If your children and teens are trying to find fun things to do this summer, look no further than the library. We are having fun events for all ages! Children sign-ups are now open. You will get a bag of summer reading goodies when you sign up. You will get a children’s reading log and a packet of information for the summer reading programs. There are also opportunities to win prizes by entering contests all summer long!

To sign your teen up, just ask for a reading log at the circulation desk or just show up to a teen activity. The teen reading challenge is open up to any teen in community with the love of reading. For every two books you log on your reading log, you will receive a prize. Turn in your reading log at the end of the summer for a chance to win one of two grand prizes.

We will also have summer reading programs the whole family will enjoy! Join us on June 14th at 4:30 pm as we watch Doctor Who and make edible Sonic Screwdrivers and color. We will also be having a 1960s themed moon landing party in 50th celebration of the moon landing. We will watch the footage and have crafts and food for the whole family. Join us this summer as we explore a universe of stories!

Is your Pinterest to-do list miles long and you don’t know where to start? Join us on Tuesday, April 16th at 5:30 as we have our first ever Pinterest craft night! The El Reno Carnegie Library is excited to advise you of a new service we are offering to school children Pre-K thru 12th grades.

Access to print books, research databases, digital materials, etc. is often unavailable to many students. We live in a busy world and it may be difficult for parents and guardians to bring children and teens to the library.

Currently the El Reno Carnegie Library is offering a library card to all students in El Reno, Calumet, Sacred Heart, and Darlington: the ONE CARD.

Signed applications will not be necessary for the One Card. The only information we need is the child’s name and lunch number. This information has been provided by your child’s school. Once that information is entered into our patron database, the child will be able to check out two print items and/or access our research databases and catalog for digital items. From our website https://elrenolibrary.okpls.org, log in information is as follows: your student ID/lunch number is both your ‘card number’ and ‘password’. After you log in the first time, you can change your password if you choose to. You can also use the free apps Libby and Overdrive to read thousands of free e-books and audiobooks.

We are willing to offer a two print item checkout without a signed application in the belief that we can encourage more children to become lifelong learners. There are no charges for books returned late or not returned. Privileges will be revoked after four items are not returned. Parents or guardians are welcome to complete and sign an application if they would like more than two books at a time or movies.

We believe that the One Card benefits the student, the Library, and ultimately, the community.
