Use the original marble staircase in the lobby or the elevator near the public computers to visit us upstairs! The second floor houses books, movies, and imaginative play stations for ages 0-12.
Some children's programs are hosted in the Children's Area and some are hosted in the meeting room downstairs. Please check in at the front desk on the first floor if you need help navigating the building!

Reading to children builds vocabulary and language skills, establishes a love of books, and creates fond memories of reading together.
Listening to books being read aloud helps children with skills they need to be be ready for kindergarten. Children learn patterns in language, rhyming words, and how stories flow. They develop print awareness and get used to reading being a part of every day life! This program is self paced and easy for parents and children to participate in. By reading just one book a day to your child, you will be able to reach 1000 books before the age of three. Modeling reading to your child will help them become lifelong readers.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book giving program that will provide a FREE book each month for a child from the time they are born until their 5th birthday.
The El Reno Carnegie Library is proud to be bringing this program to the entirety of Canadian County as of July 3, 2024!
Reading to young children not only increases literacy, it also improves outcomes across the board!
All children who were registered before the 1st of each month will receive their first book in the following month! Ex. Register by August 1 to receive your first book in September.
